TESOL Certifications in London | England

To experience the amazing history, culture and vibrancy of one of the world’s most famous cities, London, Great Britain is the ideal location for you to take your tesol course.

History surrounds you wherever you are in London; the ancient city is home to some of the world’s most famous landmarks. Perhaps the best place to get a glimpse of this in on the Waterloo Bridge at sunset. By looking to west you can take in the mock-medieval ramparts of Westminster and the Houses of Parliament, which have stood since around the 1250s. If you look to the east you can see the sun set over the great globe of St Paul’s Cathedral, which still stands proudly and impressively amongst the modern glass and steel towers that now surround it. Underneath, the famous Thames flows just as it did through the ancient Roman settlement of Londinium nearly 2000 years ago. If we were only to consider London’s most famous landmarks, Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey, Big Ben and The Tower of London, then London would still be ranked as one of the top cities in the world. There is however, so much more to see!

The shopping and entertainment to be seen here is unbelievable. You can take in a West End show or shop in the popular Oxford street, explore the culture and markets in Notting Hill and Camden or be drawn to the ever impressive Covent Garden and Piccadily Circus. There is also the serious side of London and it is one of the world’s three largest financial centers alongside new york and Tokyo. Several of the international financial markets have a keen eye on what is going on here.

The TESOL course in London is internationally recognized and accredited. Your TESOL certificate will allow you to find work and begin your TESOL career in the UK or anywhere else in the world. Our facility is situated in the London borough of Tower Hamlets, and as we are right in the heart of the city, you will be on the doorstep of the city’s numerous attractions.

We are housed very close to Stepney Green station, with other mainline and underground stations just a short walk away. We are also very close to central London and all its main tourist attractions such as The London Eye, the Houses of Parliament and the shopping area of Oxford Street. Many thriving restaurants, café bars, shops, universities and colleges are also nearby so you will be in an environment that is lively and vibrant at all times.

You can visit the theatre district or see one of the main areas that makes London tick, Canary Wharf, with its important business and office buildings and entertainment areas. The London City Airport is also just a short distance away and can be reached on the Jubilee or DLR lines.

During your course, your teaching practice will be a pleasure as we use local non-English speaking students who choose to come to us to improve their English skills. They all want to be there and are ideal for you to take your first steps on your TESOL career.

Accommodation

There are several different options for accommodation during your stay at the TESOL course in London. The cheapest option is probably private accommodation: a room or shared flat. Please note that some apartments may require a deposit, which is refundable. Hotels are available and plentiful nearby, as well as hostels where you can share a dorm with other London tourists or have your own private room.

You can find your own accommodation independently, however the easiest, safest, most reliable and less time-consuming way would be to let us arrange this for you.

Once your place on the London TESOL course has been confirmed, we ask you contact the TESOL school with your housing requirements as quickly as possible. We can then do all we can to take your preferences and requirements into account and find something perfect for you.

This information is specific to your country of origin. For the most accurate and current information regarding travel documents for the UK, please contact your nearest British consulate. There is also a very good chance that all the information you require (application documents, application fees, duration of processing documents) is available on the embassy’s webpage.

  • What is the course schedule?

    Expand white line

From Monday to Friday there are input sessions every morning from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. during which trainees learn classroom management, grammar and other practical aspects of the course. Lunch is from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. From 2:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. trainees prepare their lessons (with the assistance of their instructors) and then teach them to real ESL students. These lessons are followed by feedback from the instructors. Our goal is to provide six to ten hours of observed teaching practice over the four-week course. These lessons are taught from Monday to Thursday. On Friday, trainees are free after 1:00 p.m. and the weekend is also free. In addition to these hours, there is also time that must be spent preparing materials and completing various assignments.

  • What can I expect during teaching practice?

    Expand white line

We use local non-English-speaking students for the trainees’ teaching practice. Our students are very keen and enthusiastic and come to classes purely because they want to!

Lessons are based upon real teaching resources found all over the world and you will have the chance to create your own materials as well. You will receive the aid of your course trainer throughout lesson planning and receive immediate feedback on your lesson after it’s been delivered. Practicum is assessed and a satisfactory assessment is required to earn your TEFL/TESOL certificate.

  • Who usually attends the course?

    Expand white line

On average, we have around 20 trainees enrolled on each course. Most of our participants are from English-speaking countries such as: the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada or Australia. We do accept non-native speakers of English who have a high proficiency in the language.

  • Is there a dress code?

    Expand white line

For all input and tutorial sessions at the training location, there is only one specific dress requirement: Both men and women should have a shirt covering their shoulders. The course operates from within a school so we ask you to be mindful of this, as well as being mindful of your peers and to respect the fact that you are a visitor in another country.

During teaching practice there are specific requirements that adhere to the local dress code. All trainees are expected to dress professionally according to the following guidelines:

Women: Shoulders should be covered, blouses with sleeves are suggested. No low-cut necklines, very short skirts or bare midriffs. Open-toed shoes are acceptable, but not hiking or flip-flop sandals.

Men: Long pants, slacks or trousers are required, jeans are not acceptable. Short or long-sleeved shirts with a collar are necessary, although a tie is not required. Loafers or dress shoes are both fine, sandals are not acceptable. Long hair should always be tied back.

  • What should I bring for course studies?

    Expand white line

The only thing you will really need for the course is a notepad and something to write with. If you have a laptop and would like to bring it, you are welcome to do so as the center offers free Wi-Fi.
