In this unit I have learnt the various roles that a teacher may take in the classroom and the importance of being able to witch between these roles at various times throughout the lesson. I feel this is an extremely important topic to cover as the role of the teacher can either make the students love the class and join in readily or make them disinterested and unmotivated. I have studied the characteristics of a good learner understanding that these characteristics may differ when considering different factors such as age, culture, language level and motivation. Nervousness and< language awareness of the language and life experience will also have an impact on the learners learning experience. It is important to understand these factors to engage the learner in a way that is suited to their group and individual needs.I covered content regarding the language level of the students ranging from beginner to advanced and have a better understanding of their capabilities which is important as it will impact the work covered by the teacher in class and which level s/he will aim for. Furthermore I understand that learners with different motivating favors may impact on the way they learn and fell that it would be beneficial to determine these factor early on in the lessons.
