Unit 16 considers more difficult bulding of the sentences - conditionals & reported speech.
Conditionals divide into Zero conditional - if/when + present tense, present tense;
first conditional - if + present simple, will
second conditional - if + past simple, would/could/might + base form
third conditional - if + past perfect, would/could/might + have + past participle.
mixed conditional - If + past perfect, would + base form.
Reported & direct speech
Direct speech is a representation of the actual words someone said. A direct speech report usually has a reporting verb in the past simple. The most common reporting verb is said. The reporting clause may come first or second.
