Here Below you can check out the feedback (for one of our units) of one of the 16.000 students that last year took an online course with ITTT!

This unit went over different auxiliary words, passive voice, relative clauses and phrasal verbs. Auxiliary modal words are used in conjunction with a main verb to express degree of certainty, necessity or obligation, level of ability, or a polite request or preference. Because these auxiliary words modify the verb, they allow for a wide range of intention and meaning for a single word. They are important in understanding degree of strength, politeness, certainty, etc. of a given sentence, question or phrase. Passive voice involves the use of the object of an active verb as the subject of the passive verb. It is used to shift the emphasis from the agent to the subject. For example, the active sentence, "Pat slammed the door" becomes "the door was slammed" in the passive. This moves the focus from Pat as the actor to the door as the subject of the "slam." Relative clauses is a group of words containing a subject and verb and can either be independent (forms a complete sentence), dependent (does not form a complete sentence and must be connected to an independent clause) or relative (modifies a noun; also known as an adjective clause). The unit delves into different types of relative clauses, including defining and non-defining. Phrasal verbs consist of a verb plus one or two participles and operate as one item in a sentence. Like main verbs, phrasal verbs can be intransitive or transitive (further divided into transitive separable and inseparable). Understanding the ways in which modifying words and phrases influence language allows for more interesting and varied sentence structures.
