Lesson planning
One of the most important factors for a teacher to deliver the lesson effectively is to have a ready lesson plan before each class. A lesson plan can be written in many forms whether it is formal or informal. The teacher needs to make sure that it is simple, clear and complete.
There are many principles to write an efficient lesson plan such as, keeping it simple, not to write the lesson script, making it balanced and open to adoption.
Planning a lesson is a very important step for new teachers to have a clear guide to achieve what they want in every class.
The teacher should consider these factors while preparing a plan:
• Learner objectives.
• Personal aims.
• Language point.
• Teaching aids.
• Anticipated problems.
• Procedure.
• Phase.
• Timing.
• Interaction.
• Class level.
• Number of students.
• Date/ time.
• Teacher’s and observer’s names.
Once the teacher enters the class with a well-prepared lesson plan, that will make it easier for the teacher to monitor the lesson and find the weakness points on the lesson to work on.
Finally, the teacher can also plan a sequence of lessons considering some issues such as,
• Flexibility: it is important to be able to update and modify the aims flexibly.
• Goals: experienced teacher will build goals by giving certain duration of time to achieve it.
