The final unit focused on potential problem situations, and the areas in which they can arise (e.g. gap in student ability, overuse of students' native language). It also dealt with the importance of rapport building in the classroom. In the first class, the goal is not to teach difficult new concepts, but rather to introduce the class to yourself as well as each other as the case may be if the students do not all know each other. My major take away from this unit was the importance of making sure that the use of the students' native tongue is limited. Even if as the instructor, you should strive to create an environment that encourages English usage and experimentation. The other aspect of the unit that piqued my interest was the concept of using warmers as the starter for the rapport building in the classroom.
