This unit informed me of the many roles a teacher has while teaching a class and that a good teacher will know how to use each one appropriately. It's a very difficult balance to achieve but it will lead to a more functional and enjoyable class.
I also learned the many levels of student interaction and involvement in learning. I learned how each student may be taking a class for different reasons and may respond differently to each lesson. A good learner will be active in class activities and will show an eagerness to learn even when he or she makes a mistake.
I learned that a good teacher will adapt his or her teaching style to the situation and allow students to make and correct their mistakes before correcting immediately. There are many roles a teacher and he or she must use each one in order to be truly successful. Be too strong by correct everything and the students will be nervous to say anything. Allow the students to teach themselves in groups too much and the teacher will lose control. If the teacher doesn't follow his or her own rules then the students will show any respect as well. The teacher must be a model of what the students should aspire to be. Show them what they could be and they will be motivated to learn.
