Unit 14 examines about the sources of learning-books and materials, and their rules of implementation.A teacher can either use a course book for a lesson,or often has to create his/her own materials ,to either supplement the course book,or replace a section that are not suited to the class.Materials are of two kinds, authentic(TV,radio, newspaper, songs, poems, films, menus) and created materials(crosswords,puzzles,role-playing,gap-fill activities, picture stories).Authentic materials are real and always up to dated, not designed for the EFL students and therefore should be selected carefully, while created materials are graded to the level of students.Course books could be emotive to some teachers. The choice of whether or not to use a course book, and if so,which one,can be quite a complex issue.Course books are set of materials-student book(for class use),work book(for class or homework),cassettes,CD,learners dictionaries etc.Probably the commonly used course books are Headway,Reward,English title series for British English, and the interchange/new interchange for American English.Course books can be easy to get and practised with proof, easily produces balance mix of grammar, vocabularies and skills, continue with progression, but at the same time may cause teachers laziness, may be uncreative, compromise and outdated, can't be found for special needs of a student as they are published for the whole public and even unattractive.A teacher should consider about price and availability, methodology suit for ESA learning,up to date syllabus, language level, supplement materials and ancillary(work book,cd roms, video, audio cassettes)materials as the analyzing aspects of course book.
