This lesson presented characteristics of good teachers and good learners, described the various roles/functions in which teachers should develop capacity, described unique characteristics of learners of different ages, touched on the influence of culture on learners' expectations, and gave descriptors for the professionally recognized levels of language competency. I was actually a teacher before I went to medical school,(many years ago) so this material was generally not new to me, however it was helpful to review the various roles that teachers need to be able to play, and the material about levels of language competency was helpful as well.
