This chapter covers how to approach the introduction of new vocabulary words, new language structures, and new language functions. I had not previously thought about "Language Functions" as a category, encompassing conventions for such things as making invitations, making suggestions, agreeing and disagreeing,in the new language. I guess this is a wider category which would include the typical early lessons on greetings. It is helpful for me to think about incorporating gradually more complex examples of these conventional functions as students progress.
