Brief Overview
The contents of unit one cover the topics of:-
-Defining the characteristics of what makes a good teacher.
-The specific roles of the teacher from Manager to Facilitator.
-Categorisation of learners(young and adult) , and the different attributes of these learners based on
motivation, experience and behavioral patterns.
-The levels of learners from Starter to Upper intermediary.
- The definition and characteristics of a good learner.
- The diversity of cultures and the different approach to teaching techniques.
I have learnt the attributes of what makes a good teacher and the different roles that the teacher plays.I have learnt to distinguish between the different age categories of children, behavioural patterns,motivation and experience of each category,both of children and adult.I have also learnt the importance of establishing good relationships between teacher and pupil and the importance of being a good role model as a teacher.The cultural aspect was particularly interesting to me, and the need to understand the different cultures, and diversity of cultures, and the techniques that would be needed,when teaching a second language , for instance to the Chinese or Vietnamese pupils, whose culture i would really like to explore and learn more about.
