In this unit, the focus was on the different past tense forms. There are four past tense forms: past simple, past continuous, past perfect, and past perfect continuous. Each of the forms have a different usage, but they are all actions of the past. The past simple explains a completed action in the past, and the past continuous explains an action that continued for a while in the past. The past perfect explains a past action that occurred before another past action, and the past perfect continuous explains a past action that was continuing up to the past moment relevant to the topic, without indication of whether it was continued beyond that point or not.
In this unit, I learned how to better distinguish the usage of the past tense forms. I especially came to understand how to explain the usage of the past perfect tense, as well as how to distinguish which sentences are which form of the past tense.
