Aurora, Utah TESOL Online & Teaching English Jobs
The unit gives a detailed analysis of the qualities both good teachers and good learners should demonstrate, in order to achieve a better learning experience. The most relevant qualities a good teacher should have are above all passion for teaching, being patient and kind, having good knowledge of the language being taught, the ability to engage all students in the learning process, and a positive approach when correcting mistakes and giving feedback to students as well as good knowledge of the student's weaknesses. An engaged student will usually be highly motivated to learn for a number of reasons (professional growth, living and/or studying abroad, interest on the language, etc.), will actively ask questions and look for feedback.
Among the most common roles a teacher will take inside the classroom are a manager in charge of explaining the class, model for correct pronunciation and usage of grammar, tutor for brief one-on-one or small group support, organizer of the different activities taking place in the classroom by setting up groups of work as well as rules and feedback for such activities, and assessor who evaluates to give feedback and grades fairly the correct use of the language.
Students will usually be grouped according to their level of language ability. These groups will handle different categories from one country to another but most will have: lower level(s) for those learners with none to very basic knowledge of the language, mid level(s) for those students who have a knowledge of the language but are still making mistakes and can still achieve considerable growth, and higher level(s) for those students who have a higher level of understanding of the language and are now improving more specific aspects of the language.
