The unit talks about the general roles of teachers and the qualities you hope to see in teachers and learners. It gives the guidance that teachers need to be prepared to use multiple roles throughout a class and throughout their teaching career. The part that will come with experience is knowing when to use which roles and knowing how to respond to student needs and tailor the lesson to the material. Motivation is a major factor in the willingness of students to learn and is also a key difference between young and adult learners. Adult learners are more likely to arrive in class with a strong motivation because it is usually their choice to be there. When students find their motivation, it will help them to find the desire to listen, to ask questions, to accept constructive criticism, and nurture other good qualities of a learner. It is also the teacher's role to inspire motivation by tapping into their love of teaching, which helps to energize the classroom and show that the teacher cares about the students and their learning. The unit also breaks down the levels of learning, and provides reflection on the importance of matching the lesson to the levels of the students.
