Different specialized groups of students will require me as a teacher to be prepared with various sets of skills to meet each student's specific needs. Beginner students have little to no knowledge of English and may or may not be motivated to learn. The basics will need to be covered with beginners and I can not expect too much from them early on. Beginners need a lot of revision and their native language should not be used in class. Teaching one-on-one classes means that group activities won't be possible but it is much easier to get to know the student and assess their needs. Teaching childrens requires a lot of pacience as material must be introduced very slowly and clearly, and there must be a lot of repetition, although younger learners tend to grasp language more easily than adults. Teaching business English does not necessarily mean using an extensive business vocabulary but using a more formal approach to English. Business English students can have various levels of English knowledge and have unique needs depending on their motivation, goals, and the amount of time and energy they can commit to learning. All students needs consistancy, compassion, and a teacher willing to understand their individual needs to help them achieve their goals.
