Teaching beginners can be challenging sometimes, especially for an inexperienced teacher, but the truth is, it can be a really rewarding job. When teaching beginners a teacher should mind such things like providing as much visuals as possible, speaking slowly and clearly, not correcting them all the time, playing a lot of games, encouraging students, not expecting too much, revising a lot and trying not to use their native language at all.
When teaching individuals, a teacher should become student's partner who can help, work and motivate them. A teacher should know students' targets and expectations when learning a language( with the help of needs analysis), use a lot of materials which can prompt a conversation and use a lot of different activities and techniques.
Children are usually very fast learners. A teacher can really enjoy a lesson because of kids' curiosity and activeness. Lessons should be always dynamic and exciting, because children can get bored very fast; a lot of repetition should be used; pronunciation should be clear and slow, and a voice pitch should be high; playing games is very important. A teacher should smile, be ready to make fun of himself and provide some rewards(like stickers) for good behaviour and work. A teacher should be aware of students' problems and try to resolve them or at least understand them if nothing can be done. Threatening and raising voice can never help.
Teaching Business English doesn't require from a teacher to have a deep knowledge in students' industry. The most required types of the language is telephoning, emailing, presentations. A teacher should always be careful, ready to compromise and not demand too much as business people are usually tired, busy and lack time for homework. After placement tests, students should be provided with needs analysis to help a teacher understand his students' needs and plan lessons according to them.
The multilingual class is very advantageous as far as students don't have any other way than speaking English in order to understand each other. The monolingual class isn't that beneficial because students tend to speak their native language with each other, especially when a teacher isn't present in the classroom. A teacher should do everything to avoid using their mother-tongue.
