I learned much more than I ever anticipated I would while studying TEFL. First and foremost I relearned proper and correct english. I say relearned because many of the things covered in this course I learned while in grade school. Since then I have picked up bad habits and have talked in slang. I find myself correcting my own english and others around me. While studying this course not using proper english has become a pet peeve of mine.
I have also learned why my previous french and spanish teachers ran their classes the way they did. I now understand the methodology behind what they taught and how they taught it. This has given me the knowledge the run my own class when it comes time.
I will most certainly be holding on to all my worksheets and chapters to refer back to while I am teaching. Everything in this course is vital to teaching in one way or another and at one time or another will come into play. I plan to put everything to use while teaching, most importantly I will have to remain calm and be confident in what I learned. If I can do this then teaching the material will come natural and managing the class will become second nature.
