How long does a TESOL course take?
The answer to this question will entirely depend on what course you choose to study. ITTT provides a wide range of course options in an effort to meet the needs of every individual trainee and each one has its own time scale for completion.
Which TESOL course is the quickest to complete?
Short-format online TESOL courses can be a quick way to gain a qualification. However, you should be aware that these courses are aimed at volunteer teachers or those looking for an insight into the world of TESOL. Most employers around the world will expect you to have a certificate of at least 100 hours.
Are longer online TESOL courses more beneficial?
To ensure you are eligible for the majority of well paid teaching jobs, we recommend our 120-hour TESOL course. This is a very popular choice as it includes enough content to satisfy most employers and to prepare you properly for your first day in the classroom. If you are in a real hurry and are prepared to work hard, it is possible to complete this course in around two weeks. However, the average completion time is in the region of six to eight weeks.
How long does an in-class TESOL course take?
Unlike our online courses where the trainee sets the pace of study, our in-class course has a set timeframe of four weeks. During this full time course you will study all the same theory as in an online course with the addition of observed teaching practice sessions where you get to develop your new skills. The in-class course is available in dozens of locations around the world and on completion you will be more than ready to step straight into your own classroom.
How long do specialized and advanced TESOL courses take?
In addition to our standard online and in-class TESOL courses, we also offer specialized and advanced online courses that will further enhance your CV/resume. We have two 50-hour specialized courses that can be completed in as little as one week. The teaching English to young learners and teaching business English courses have an average completion time of around a month. The online TESOL diploma course is an advanced level qualification that can be completed in a month if you are very determined. The average completion time of the diploma course is around eight months.
Is there a maximum time limit for completing a TESOL course?
As mentioned, the in-class TESOL course has a fixed timetable of four weeks. In contrast, all our online course options can be completed at any speed that you prefer, up to a maximum limit of six months from the day you start. This limit is in place to ensure the information covered early on is still fresh in your mind when you get towards the end of the course.
