This unit, based on methodology and learning stages, is most informative. Throughout this section of the course, I have learnt of a plethora of teaching methods that I can use. It has been unveiled to me the there are certain methods that are more suitable than others, for example, the audio-lingualism approach is less prefered by teachers than the task-based learning approach as task-based learning focuses more on the understanding of the language in depth rather than the repetitive drilling of words, were a student might result in knowing the word but not the meaning of it by the end of the lesson. I found that knowing the different teaching method is helpful as I can combine the techniques and ideas in the classroom in order to deliver a well-rounded lesson.
I have learnt of ESA, (Engage, study Activate) lesson structure and also the varieties of lesson structures possible. such as boomerang and patchwork lesson. These structures are helpful to know and will be decided on depending on the class I'm given in the future.
Confidence is the most important tool I as a teacher should be encouraging, so learning about how and when to correct a student without discouraging them is a great skill to be enlightened with.
