In this unit I have learned the 3 different types of ways to be able to assess the student's language level.
1) By providing tutorials to the students which can be done at the end of the week to make sure that the student/students have understood what was taught within the whole week and or to make sure that the teach is aware of any problems that the student may have.
2) Evaluation provided by the students is a great way for the students to get involved. To let them know that their thoughts and ideas also do count. This is also a great way to know that the students are aware of what is happening in the classroom.
3) Different types of tests are given at different stages in a course. Starting off with the placement test which is given at the start for the teacher to gauge the language level of the student , followed by the diagnostic test which will let the teacher understand what the student knows and does not know. At the middle of the course, a progress test may be given to the students so that the teacher will be able to understand if the students are learning from what has been covered by the course. Formal tests are usually given to students regularly every term to make sure that the students have understood what has been taught. And if at the end of a lesson/course there will be an external exam, teachers have practice tests for the students so that that students will be aware of what may appear on the exam itself.
I learned that there are a lot of different types of tests that can be given to students to make sure they fully understand the lesson and if help is required per student.
