I enjoyed this unit and found the two videos contained in this section very useful. My first impression from the first video was that the teacher was disorganized, impolite and not respectful to the students. First, he didn’t introduce himself or even care to know the students names. He kept pointing with his finger and asking the students to respond but wanted a quick response from them. Also, telling them constantly that the answers were wrong or saying no. He was always looking lost and checking his lesson plan. When it came time to elicitate in the study and activate phases, he didn’t bother to explain thoroughly to the students what was expected of them and what the lesson was about. He seemed to be impatient and during the study phase he kept asking if they were finished and didn’t give them enough time. As hard as it was to watch, I found it a great tool as to what not to do in a classroom. On the other hand, the second video demonstrated a perfect boomerang lesson which was well planned and laid out for the student to succeed in learning the lesson for the day. He was funny at times, patient, kind and respectful with the students. During one activate phase, he even joined in and answered questions for the students to practice. It was overall a great lesson and the students seemed to enjoy and participate effectively.
