Troubleshooting the class is an important cheat-sheet to have. Establish a relationship with the class, spend the first lesson getting to know each other, what are the students' motivation and aspirations for their new English skills, and find out their English level on an individual basis so you know where to give certain students more help and who to partner them with. Start class easy and build to the harder topics each lesson building the difficulty as you go. Keep class moving and fun if you can although some topics may be terrible to go over. Vary the materials/format of the lesson to prevent boredom. Attempt to get reluctant students join in, shy and reserved students can be difficult to win over.
