From this unit, I have learnt that there are various methodologies that can be incorporated when teaching. I believe the methodology with the most impact is the ESA method, as it encourages and generates active communication from the student and is designed to motivate the student to talk and communicate as much as possible. The method also provides flexibility for the teacher, as the teacher can assess from information elicited, whether to move into the study portion of the lesson or to engage in activating (through role plays etc) or whether to have an additional activate portion of the lesson. Ultimately, the three elements of ESA provide a balanced range of activities for students, designed to get them comfortable, communicating freely and allowing the teacher to instruct and help the students apply what has been earned through debates and role-plays.
