Yining, China TESOL Online & Teaching English Jobs
In this Unit we covered content regarding the planning of lessons. It is important that teachers are not too rigid when planning the lessons, because the lack of flexibility may not allow the teacher to respond to the needs of the students. However, being too flexible when planning a lesson may result uneffective as the lesson may lack some direction. One of the advantages of lesson planning is that when the teacher plans the lesson, he/she has a defined objective for the class and a plan to achieve that objective. When it comes to writting down a lesson plan, we may find that there is not a specific way of doing it. However, we may keep in mind basic principles such as keeping it simple and flexible. Moreover, it is also important that when planning a lesoon we try to include some specific information such as language point , procedure and timing. Overall, in this Unit I learnt that when planning a lesson it is better if we aren't too rigid or too flexible. I also learnt that an advantage of planning a lesson is that it allows us to identify our objective for the lesson as well as it allow us to formulate a plan to achieve that objective. However, being too rigid may stop us from addressing questions and needs from students. On the other hand, I also learnt that too much flexibility may not be effective as we may find that being too flexible makes it difficult to follow a direction for our lesson.
