I think the most interesting aspect was thinking critically about how what native speakers read every day is a really important resource but it can't be the only resource because it is not graded to any specific level so it might not be appropriate for lower level students and it will not have a focus on any specific type of vocabulary or comprehension questions at the end as is often present in course material. As with most things it is often a good idea to use course material as a base for lessons but supplement it with authentic material which is more realistic to how native speakers talk to each other and is good for relevant material that might be more up to date and of interest to students. Course books are good for teaching grammar and forming a outline but should be used for supplemental material and aware of students level and interests.
