This unit is on special groups that a teacher may encounter while teaching EFL . Firstly, the beginner level students, and what the different levels of “beginner” may look like. From absolutely no exposure to English or the Roman alphabet to “false beginner” with some exposure, younger learners and adult learners. An EFL teacher may need to teach on an individual or one-on-one basis, which is drastically different than most of the teaching techniques previously discussed but many of the lesson plans are similar, but obviously more focused on conversation and no group activities. Teaching children means having fun, energetic and varied lessons that are not too long and involve lots of games. Teaching English for business can be one-on-one, in company or and in-school group but usually it is working adults that are using their free-time to go to the class, whether required by their work or self-motivated. Lastly there are monolingual and multilingual classes, which both present pros and cons. Multilingual classes being united by English being the common language. Monolingual classes the students will want to revert to their native language but as they share a common cultural background, teachers can more easily find topics that will interest them and keep them engaged.
