The main ideas of this course unit were to grant an overview of different teaching and learning styles and showcase effective approaches to teaching ESL to different students. I feel I have learned a lot from this unit by considering age and cultural differences as factors in learning English. A teacher must have a firm grasp of their student’s age group, culture, motivation, and English skill level in order to effectively meet their needs, and be adaptable at all times. I believe a teacher must be able to adapt their lesson style to meet all of these factors in order to prevent boredom, causing offense, or losing respect, and ultimately in order to keep students engaged and motivated to continue learning English.
