This unit is all about teaching the receptive skills ( reading and listening) of the English Language; Reasons and motives for carrying out a reading or a listening exercise, how to listen and read taking note of the skills ( predictive, scanning, skimming and many others), problems faced when reading and listening such as language and how to tackle language difficulties. The unit goes ahead to present a sample receptive skill lesson (patchwork ESA lesson). The unit concludes by treating what people wear in England under the influence of America and how to make comparisons using "more than", "less than", "as....as" just to name a few.
What i have derived from this unit is how to teach a reading or listening lesson taking into consideration the learners' purpose for reading and listening and what the learners will gain after the lesson.
I have also learnt to tackle students' language difficulty by pre-teaching vocabulary, carefully selecting a text and selecting an interesting dialogue.
I have also witness an ESA lesson for an interview.
