This unit has shown that there are 4 basic skills in language and that reading and listening are referred to as receptive skills while speaking and writing are productive skills. All four must be incorporated in a class to have a balanced approach. In an English class, the receptive skills are like the first things to do to make language acceptable to the learner and should be done with the learner's interest taken into cognizance. I was clarified on the fact that in choosing a comprehension text, i should concentrate on what the learner knows rather that what is unknown. All of my selections must be learner centered and motivating for them.
