This unit discusses the two productive skills of English: speaking and writing. Speaking tends to be more emphasized in the classroom, but being able to write in English is an important skill as well. Teachers need to find a balance of how to get students to practice their accuracy and fluency when speaking but not necessarily at the same time to avoid student frustration. Students need to be taught handwriting, spelling, and punctuation when learning English. Both teachers and students need to keep in mind that Americans and the British spell many words differently. The unit also gave many good examples of how to incorporate games into lessons for good speaking practice.
