The final unit of this course is about troubleshooting. Being prepared for potential problems is always helpful. The first lessons can be challenging especially if it is a new group and rapport needs to be established. Doing ice-breakers and activities that assess language level is preferable over diving straight into grammar. Teachers should be prepared if their class has extreme language levels to give the stronger students something to work on while working with the weaker students. This can be even more challenging should the class size be larger than 25. This unit gives great advice on how to manage large classes like pair work, group leaders, and choral drills. In any English as a foreign language class at any level, the use of the native language should be discouraged. Other issues discussed were how to encourage reluctant learners to participate and how to overcome difficulties with listening texts. The latter I personally have experience struggling with as a foreign language learner. Listening to another language with the use of visual cue is very difficult but is good practice so should not be neglected. Thank you for this wonderful course.
