Temirtau, Kazakhstan TESOL Online & Teaching English Jobs
This unit discussed conditionals and reported speech. Conditionals are the 'what ifs' of language, possible but unlikely outcomes. The zero conditional is present tense (when/if) plus present tense: When it rains, it's cold. This is used for factual and statement based sentences. The first conditional, (if+present tense, will) talks about a real situation in the future that is possible. The second conditional (if+past simple, would/could) talks about an unreal present or future situation and is unlikely to ever happen. The third conditional (if+past perfect, would + have + p.p) refers to a hypothetical past action and impossible conclusion. Reported speech is very useful and important when referring back to what somebody said. It can be in the present or the past.
