There are various types of tests that are designed to help the students as well as the teachers but mainly focused on the students. Just to name a few; placement tests, progress tests, diagnostic tests, and practice tests. Placement test are designed to help the teacher place new students in their correct class according to the students language ability. Progress tests are designed to check the progress of the student during the course so it should be taken periodically throughout the course. Diagnostic tests are designed to see what the student already knows and what they may struggle on. This test also helps the teacher prepare content that will strengthen where the students may fall short on. Finally progress tests should follow the format and structure of the external test that will be given at the end of the course, so the students can become familiar with it and know what to expect on the external exam.
