It is important to know the language levels of your students to be able to cater to their needs. If your lesson is super easy the more advanced students will become bored and lose interest. If your lesson is more complexed the lower levels will become frustrated and unmotivated. Balance is important in the classroom. Pairing up a strong student with a weak students will benefit both ends. The weaker student can elicit help from the stronger student and the stronger student will benefit from the practice. There are about 5 different types of beginners. The absolute beginner, these beginners have no English knowledge whats so ever. The false beginner, may seem like an absolute beginner but know some English because they may have studied prior or been exposed to the language. The adult beginner, its all in the name. These beginners are typically more motivated because they most likely chose to take the course. The young beginner, often lack motivation because most likely they are forced to be there by their school or parents, but they retain the language easier than adult beginners.The beginner without a roman alphabet, can be a bit more difficult because you have to start from square one teaching the basic skills.
