Pronunciation and phonology if not used correctly can alter the meaning of a word, sentence or phrase. Most people do have different accents and backgrounds that may affect the way they pronounce a word. English is the universal language but Asians, Americans, Europeans etc. will have different way of speaking. Teaching proper pronunciation should start at the basic ABC then move on to its corresponding sounds. After that, start with the simple words going to phrases up until to the sentences. The basic idea is to start from the basic to build a foundation. If the students know the sounds of the letters, then it would be easier for them to learn a language.
