Dunedin, New Zealand TESOL Online & Teaching English Jobs
This unit focused on teaching conditionals and reported speech. It began by going through the five conditionals, with their grammatical structure and usage. It then went on to give teaching ideas, some could be used in study phase (such as completing the conditional sentences), while others in activate stage (such as creating a chain story among the group, or doing a Nuclear bunker role-play). The second part of the unit dealt with reported speech and direct speech. Here it went through the different steps taken in "reporting" what has been said, in other words, transferring direct speech into reported speech. The process of reporting from present into the past is also called backshifting. This expression was new to me. At the end of the unit different teaching ideas were presented for using reported speech as part of a class activity.
