I have learned the differences between the two productive skills: Speaking and Writing.
Writing more neglected than speaking because teachers get preoccupied that it gives students too much quiet time. Therefore it us mostly relegated to homework. It is the most difficult skill because of the high degree of accuracy it requires. When writing one must be careful of many things such as not to use certain abbreviations as we would while speaking, the correct spelling and use of words, punctuation and handwriting.
Speaking on the other hand is most practised skill in a classroom. Misunderstandings can be cleared up immediately allowing students to focus on the fluency of the language. In contrast to writing skills, speaking skills require less time to think and plan an answer making it more tricky to give an accurate response.
