This unit focused on the important physical aspects of learning a language. In particular, this unit emphasized the phonetic alphabet, and how this system of learning the sounds of words can greatly aid new learners of English. Ultimately, this unit highlighted the difficulties present in understanding the English language, underpinned by the disparity in pronunciation and proper writing. My biggest takeaway from this unit is that by using the phonetic alphabet, we can teach students how to pronounce sounds, thus enhancing their understanding of the dynamics and structure of sentences etc.
