This unit focused a lot on the correct pronunciation of English words. It utilized the phonetic alphabet as the easiest, best, most effective and universal way to follow and understand pronunciation. The unit identified three main intonations used: fall/rise, rise/fall and level, with rise/fall being the base standard or most common for most sentences in English. It also identified how the different usages of intonations and stresses in a sentence can determine what the meaning of the sentence is. The unit also provided a detailed explanation of how different sections of the mouth is used to pronounce the various sounds along with the manner in which these parts are used.
