Teaching Pronunciation and Phonology.
Phonology as stated in my notes can be defined as the study, science, analysis and classification of the physical properties of sound. In this unit I learned about stress, intonation and rhythm.
Intonation is the variation in volume and pitch in a whole sentence.
Stress has different rules and different ways to interpret what is being said.One word has only one stress while we can only stress multi-syllable words.
I learned about the different ways that sound can be joined through linking, sound dropping, sound changing and extra lettering. Pronunciation can be taught in many different ways. I also found Phonectic script to be a bit tricky especially if one does not get the pronunciation of the words properly.
