This unit was focused on the various sources of lesson materials and a huge part of the chapter was mainly on course books,
the functions of coursebooks,the various trypes and how as a teacher you can use it to best benefit both you ad the students.
There are two types of materials which are authentic and creative materials which both are beneficial for the student and help
in enhancing their language skills.Authentic materials are materials that are originally created to be utalized by native speakers
not language learners ,these include programs,magazines,movies,dramas,songs etc.These are helpful as they boost the students
confidence and they because the are real and interesting this may motivate the studentto continue learning the language
.Creative materials are those that are created by the teacher as a way to supplement or replace materials from the course book
and it is therefore graded to the students level unlike the authentic materials.
Important factors to consider when using coursebooks
Although they are helpful to use its very imperative as a teacher to ensure that the mateial in the book meets the needs of the
students,therefore for optimum results,the following options are advised;
1.Carefully ormit unncessary lesson in the book that are not relevant.
2.Replace some omitted lessons with lesson that best suits the class.
3.If necessary do provide additional material ro reinforce the language point.
4.Use the material in the coursebook in your own way to best fit your teaching style and hence the needs of the students
