This lesson helped to develop a sense of authentic materials and course books. In my opinion, a course book would be a helpful addition to my classroom; I only use authentic materials and student writing in my current teaching. The ESL students are all relatively high proficiency English speakers, but it could be beneficial to have a textbook to work from, even though this departs from typical practices at my university.
