This unit highlights the importance of lesson planning for both experienced and inexperienced teachers alike. The skill of being able to plan a successful lesson or a sequence of interconnected, interesting lessons is not only about setting up objectives for the learners and preparing appropriate aids, but also about observing and improving yourself as a teacher. A lesson plan provides support in the way of keeping a record, giving an opportunity to predict some problems, and establishing what has been done and what needs to be done in the future. One of the points the unit raises is how it is important to remain flexible when planning, and not to expect everything to be perfect all the time. As long as the teacher can see what needs to be improved, and how he/she can become more effecient, it is okay to feel that there is more to be done.
