Compared with present tense, the past tense is a little difficult for students. They are some irregular verbs that are difficult to remember. Because there are no rules to help us memorize these irregular verbs. The only thing we can do is to remember them.
Past tense is used for actions or situations that happened in the past. In order to learn it well, we have to be familiar with its different forms, such as affirmative, negative and question forms. As English teachers, we need to design some activities to let our students practise more, and help them understand the diffences between English and our mother language.
Except for that, we should help our students understand the differences between Past simple, Past continuous, Past perfect and Past perfect continuous.
