This unit introduces modal verbs, passive voice, and relative clauses, all of which are difficult for native speakers to understand and can be even more difficult to explain to students. I was able to understand these concepts better by taking note of the grammar tables provided and completing the task sheet, which had several exercises for identifying modal verbs and their usages, shifting from active voice to passive voice, and identifying defining and non-defining relative clauses. By completing exercises with these grammar items, I feel better prepared to explain them to students and use them in practical activities, such as practicing the modal verb "may" by asking to borrow items from peers, or the modal verbs "should/ought to" and "must" through doctor role-plays in which a doctor gives strong advice to a patient.
