This unit covers the seven future tenses, their forms, and their usages. The seven future tenses are: future simple, future continuous, future perfect, future perfect continuous, 'going to' future, present simple, and present continuous with future meaning. This unit contains both similarities and differences to the present and past tenses covered in previous units. It is important for teachers to make sure that students understand how the tenses are alike and are different. There are many teaching ideas that allow for the comparing and contrasting of the tenses, which can help students' ability to distinguish one tense from the other. Many of these teaching ideas for the future tenses involve the use of diaries/planners/schedules, where students will have to ask questions and make sentences regarding their future plans or actions.
