Allentown, United States TESOL Online & Teaching English Jobs
In Unit 18, the content covered phrasal verbs, passive voice, and modals. It outlined the different modal auxiliary verbs and their usages, the appropriate usage of passive voice, and the different types of phrasal verbs. This unit helped me learn a lot about the specific usages of each modal auxiliary verb, which is used casually and easily in speaking among native speakers but more difficult to explain to English language learners. I learned how to clearly list the different usages of each modal verb and how to explain which statements are more formal than others. The differences and preferences between active and passive voice was also another lesson I learned – it helps in explaining why active voice is preferred and the few times we use passive voice, in very specific contexts.
