Unit #17 adequately reviewed the many different types of equipment and teaching aids available that allow teachers to present and supplement a lesson plan. In my experience, many of the examples mentioned were part of my everyday education during college, and all throughout grade school. So the uses of those aides are intuitively innate to my creative nature as a hopeful EFL teacher. It's been a long time since I've seen an OHT. Particularly, the ones the unit described. However, I presume that those who have the necessary funds have changed to ceiling mounted projectors that are connected to a computer, as opposed to the floor models that require specially created transparent pages to project content on the board or screen. The most important thing that I'll take away from this lesson is that it's integral that I make myself aware of the resources and technologies available at a given school to allow me to plan my lessons in the most effective way possible. Personally, the lesson lacked the review of PowerPoint lessons. PowerPoint lessons have become increasingly popular at this time because they are organized, legible, and overall very professional. As a student, I preferred these types of lessons because they provided a consistent framework for organization, which made it easier to structure notes and discussion. They also allow the teacher to plan the lesson around an overarching visual aid that can have audio, video, and exercises directly embedded into them. Nonetheless, the list of online resources provided at the end of the unit will be useful when planning ESA lessons in the future.
