This unit covers the various conditional forms used to denote conditional speech in English. Zero conditionals can use if/when interchangeably and are used when the actions/ facts are unchangeable. First conditionals are used to talk about a real situation in the future. Second conditionals talk about future conditions and consequence that are more unlikely to happen. Third conditionals talk about hypothetical past actions and results that could never happen since the actions were hypothetical. Finally, the Mixed conditionals refer to a combination of the second and third conditionals and talk about a hypothetical past action which could have resulted in a hypothetical present consequence.
