The unit covers some common trouble areas with teaching classes and includes some common difficult scenarios. For example, establishing rapport with and between students in the first lesson is tricky and important to learn how to do. Large classes also present unique challenges related to clear communication and keeping each student participating. Using warmer activities for all classes is a basic tip that helps overcome many challenges associated with low motivation. This is also helpful with some disruptive student patterns, but in special cases you may need to allow students to participate by voice recording at first, or having more controlled activities that build confidence. I learned about different approaches you can use when there are varying levels in the same class, and that a combination of approaches is best. Native language use is common and not to be punished but can be prevented by explaining activities in clear and simple language, and with many reminders.
